Why I Write About Enlarged Prostate
Enlarged prostate is a common issue in primary care, particularly as men get older.
Many patients first speak with their family physician because they notice changes in urination, such as:
- frequent urination;
- waking several times during the night to urinate;
- a weak or slower urine stream;
- difficulty starting urination;
- sudden urinary urgency;
- dribbling after urination;
- feeling that the bladder has not emptied completely;
- or concern about an abnormal PSA result.
These symptoms do not automatically establish a diagnosis of BPH, and they do not automatically mean prostate cancer.

I completed my medical education at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tirana, qualifying to practice medicine in Albania.
After beginning work in general medical practice and primary care, I continued postgraduate education at the University of Malaya, where I completed a Master of Medical Science (MMedSc).
My postgraduate work included clinical methodology, medical research and epidemiological study design.
